Summer well and truly arrived in Marylebone on Thursday 6th July, as New Quebec Street and Seymour place were turned into an ‘urban garden’ for this year’s The Portman Marylebone Summer Street Party. Organised by Coverdale Barclay on behalf of client The Portman Estate, Marylebone locals and guests from all over London arrived to enjoy live music, al fresco dining, late night shopping and entertainment for all ages.

A veritable treat for foodies, guests were able to enjoy much-loved dishes from renowned Marylebone restaurants. These included pizza by the slice from SANDY’s, Galician beef pintxo from Basque grill Lurra, and modern Italian dishes from Bernardi’s. Newcomer to New Quebec Street, Boxcar, had queues all night at its summer BBQ, whilst The Portman pub made sure Seymour Place complimented its own BBQ with punch and an ice cream trolley.

Vegetarian restaurant, The Gate, also prepared a selection of sweet and savoury dishes for visitors to enjoy, and Deliciously Ella served up a selection of freshly prepared dishes to enjoy outside her first concept deli. The Children’s Garden Tea Party, hosted by GAIL’s Bakery and offering healthy snacks and sweet treats to kids, proved a firm favourite.

Visitors of all ages were kept entertained by fun activities such as hook-a-duck, face painting, and breath-taking stilt walkers, Mr & Mrs Flora. A doodle wall gave children and adults alike the chance to experiment with colour and express their creativity.  Guests also had the opportunity to take home a terrarium they had made at the fully-subscribed, complimentary workshop hosted by James Bernard Floristry and children created a souvenir of the day at workshops hosted by Homemade London, customising birdhouses and wind chimes. Music by Stephen Cornwell, Marcello Michael, Supertenants and Acoustic Companions kept the party in full swing until 10pm.

Late night shopping also enabled visitors to take advantage of exclusive offers and promotions at a range of New Quebec Street and Seymour Place’s independent stores. Swim and resort-wear boutique, Paolita, known for her signature use of eye-catching colours and prints, offered 15% off all collections for one night only, whilst Lemongrass Boutique Spa provided relaxing massages at an exclusive price and visitors could get their manicures al fresco at Beauty Rose Hair & Beauty Professionals. Eliska welcomed shoppers with a refreshing glass of PIMM’s.

The Portman Estate thanked partners and stakeholders at a pre-event gathering at The Doghouse on Seymour Place. An enjoyable evening was had by all.
