The Grafton in Cambridge is currently undergoing a major refurbishment programme to revitalise the 500,000 sq ft centre, including the introduction of an exciting new food quarter to boost its retail and leisure offer. Owner LGIM Real Assets (L&G) is investing £18.5 million into the scheme and has appointed Coverdale Barclay to plan and deliver trade and consumer communications for the 2-year improvement programme.
The Grafton is anchored by Debenhams, one of only two department stores in Cambridge and currently consists of 84 units, including an 8-screen Vue Cinema. L&G’s plans include the creation of new anchor opportunities for retailers and leisure operators. Their investment into The Grafton is expected to act as a catalyst for the wider regeneration of the area towards the east of the city. There is enormous potential for this increasingly important part of the city, capturing growth of business, residential, transport and infrastructure, with key establishments such as Anglia Ruskin University on the doorstep.
