From the Lionesses’ Euro triumph to Oasis’ reunion tour uniting us all in 90s nostalgia, to big changes from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, 2025 has been a big year for culture, politics and place.
For the Coverdale Barclay team, it’s been just as eventful on the home front. We’ve celebrated new clients, including Muse and JTRE London, a summer of culture and sport with Culture Mile BID, the successful delivery of a number of complex projects and the arrival of new talent to our team.
Here, some of our team share some of their favourite moments from 2025.
Ros Barclay, Co-Founder Director
My highlights of this year include our regular team ‘site safaris’ to explore new, changing and regenerated places, which this year saw us visit Old Kent Road, Canary Wharf and the Artist’s Garden at Temple tube station. In 2025, we also supported the submission of the planning application to regenerate Leatherhead town centre, attended UKREiiF (any excuse to go to Leeds, one of my favourite UK cities), and delivered some great coverage for both the summer and winter events programme for our client Culture Mile BID. Working with such a highly motivated CB team is also a particular personal highlight for me.
Hannah Channing, Director
As 2025 began, the industry’s favourite phrase was “cautiously optimistic.” Looking back, the caution was well-placed. The year was not without its challenges for the built environment sector, but it also delivered important milestones that we’re proud to be a part of.
We continued working with placemakers and organisations shaping the future of our towns and cities. Working with longstanding clients like Sugar House Island in Stratford and Devonshire Square in the City of London, where the Sir Devonshire Hotel opened its doors, have been standout moments.
We also began working with some brilliant new clients. Being appointed to support Muse’s southern team was a personal highlight. Muse is a developer that lives its values: ambitious, collaborative and genuinely committed to partnership. Its regeneration projects change lives, and we’re honoured to help tell that story.
JTRE’s Stirling Prize win for Appleby Blue this autumn was a defining moment for the sector: proof that affordability and exceptional design can coexist; and we were just proud to work with new client JTRE to help share that message, with an op-ed by the London MD in Estates Gazette
Lastly, we welcomed some exceptional new talent to our team. Miranda Harrington and Humzah Ali have both hit the ground running (and improved our office playlist exponentially – thanks, Miranda).
Kelly Kerruish, Associate Director
It’s been a fresh start for me in 2025 as I’ve returned from maternity leave and feel like I’ve come back with a bang! A top highlight of my year was reconnecting with my network, meeting new prospects and exploring opportunities for collaboration at this year’s UKREiiF in Leeds where there was a real energy and sense of optimism amongst delegates. I’ve also been delighted to pick up where I left off, taking the lead on some of our most exciting placemaking and regeneration projects, including Placefirst, Sugar House Island, Devonshire Square and Culture Mile BID. I’ve really enjoyed spending the year reigniting relationships, welcoming new colleagues and clients and contributing to some key client projects.
Miranda Harrington, Senior Account Manager
My 2025 highlight has been joining the team at Coverdale Barclay and working with an exciting and diverse range of clients that are shaping the future of the built environment. One particular highlight has been starting work with Muse to build its profile as the partner of choice for regeneration and placemaking in the South of England. It’s been a rewarding experience so far to communicate the brilliant work they’re doing to shape communities that enhance the lives of those living there.
Neha Iyer, Account Manager
My great achievement this year was working with our client Culture Mile BID on its summer events programme, culminating in securing a live broadcast on BBC London from one of its events, a wheelchair basketball game at the historic Guildhall Yard. This required a great deal of communication, persistence and agility, but it was worth it in the end to see this fantastic community event and our client shown on the news.
Edward Poynton, Junior Account Manager
With my first full year at Coverdale Barclay coming to an end, my highlight has been the challenging and complex planning application with Kier Property and Mole Valley District Council in Leatherhead. When the application was submitted at the start of November, it followed months of work, planning, stakeholder management and, at times, learning on-the-go to develop an important planning application for the area.
Humzah Ali, Account Executive
Joining CB as an Account Executive has been this year’s highlight, especially the opportunity to work across such a diverse range of clients. The success of Devonshire Square’s Diwali event and Time Out’s coverage of it were standout moments that celebrated the area’s creative energy and demonstrated how thoughtful cultural communications can turn place-based events into citywide talking points. It was a perfect blend of festivity and place.
