A four-page feature by Akanksha Soni in Estates Gazette this week explores the evolution of Sugar House Island and the long-term vision behind its transformation, on behalf of our client Vastint.
Vastint’s Head of Portfolio UK, Dan Westley, looks back on how the ambition for an ‘Island of Opportunity’ has been realised over time, navigating challenges such as the pandemic while remaining true to the project’s founding principles.
The feature examines how Sugar House Island has grown into a hub for creativity and an incubator for innovation, shaped by Vastint’s long-term ownership model, the careful curation of independent businesses and an approach to being a landlord that actively encourages collaboration and community on site.
This interview forms part of a wider campaign built around the Island’s five-year milestone (since residents first moved in in 2020). Over the past year, we’ve been leveraging this moment to showcase not just development progress, but the stories, partnerships and lived experiences that define the place today.
Now in our fourth year working with Vastint, delivering integrated trade and consumer communications, we are privileged to have witnessed, and been a part of, the Island’s impressive growth and journey across much of that period. From events like the Hypha Studios exhibitions that have connected the Island to its creative community, to welcoming new members of the community such as Sophia Webster and the University of Huddersfield, and sharing residents’ reflections on finding a sense of community, our focus has been on telling a rounded, credible story of long-term placemaking – one that resonates with both industry and public audiences.
