We’re delighted to have our client Culture Mile’s fantastic summer event broadcast live by BBC London.
The high-energy wheelchair basketball game by the London Titans, featuring Paralympians Matt Sealy and Amy Conroy, formed part of ‘Basketball in the Culture Mile’, a London Sports Festival event, delivered in partnership with the Central London Alliance.
Through this event, and its wider summer events programme, the Culture Mile BID has activated the abundant outdoor spaces in the City, encouraging people to discover and celebrate them, and has also created accessible and inclusive cultural moments across the neighbourhood.
This is important as Centre for London’s ‘Arts for all’ report earlier this year outlined a startling lack of engagement by Londoners with arts and culture.
Securing BBC London coverage is highly competitive, but we knew that such a strong juxtaposition of the beautiful historic building and high-energy basketball would make for a great visual story for London-based broadcast media. Our offer to them was also bolstered by the fact the Guildhall Yard sits on the site of a Roman amphitheatre, meaning everyone involved was playing on 2,000 years of sporting history, and by being able to offer them interviews with notable sporting stars.
