We were delighted to support JTRE London and Southwark Charities on the ground-breaking for Edward Edwards’ House, an almshouse community of 64 new homes that reimagines the traditional almshouse to increase density while protecting vital shared and community spaces.
Edward Edwards’ House will complement JTRE London’s high-quality office development 220 Blackfriars, providing homes for the local community and supporting JTRE London’s commitment to social value in Southwark, following its previous development of the award-winning Appleby Blue.
The event brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including Deputy Mayor Tom Copley, local MP Neil Coyle, the Leader of Southwark Council, Cllr Sarah King, future residents and the wider project team, as well as a journalist from Inside Housing.
We supported the project by developing clear, consistent key messaging that articulated both the social value of the scheme and its contemporary approach to almshouse living. This messaging framework guided speeches, media briefings and on-the-day communications.
We also developed and delivered the stakeholder engagement strategy, including vox pop interviews and insights, reinforcing shared priorities between JTRE London and Southwark Charities around community, longevity and good design. The result was a coherent, authentic narrative that strengthened the overall impact of the event.
The ground-breaking for Edward Edwards’ House is an important step in JTRE London’s strategy for the site, as 220 Blackfriars’ construction continues on schedule to top-out this Autumn.
