Placefirst completes Halifax’s first BTR scheme at successful launch event

Coverdale Barclay’s client Placefirst recently opened Bolt Works, a brand-new community of 122 rental homes in the centre of Halifax.

Bolt Works is Halifax’s first dedicated build-to-rent community and features sustainable technologies, including solar panels, heat pumps, and MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) systems.

The development was built on the site of a former car park, transforming brownfield land into much-needed new homes. It was unveiled at a ceremony attended by the Mayor of Calderdale Ann Kingstone, alongside stakeholders from Calderdale Council, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and a range of contractors including Caddick Construction.

Phil Jones, Director of Development at Placefirst, said: “This project shows the huge potential in reimagining underused town centre spaces into neighbourhoods full of life, with great homes and spaces people are proud to call home. It’s been fantastic to work alongside Calderdale Council to make this vision a reality, and we’re excited to see the first residents bringing the place to life.

The scheme was funded primarily by Placefirst with contributions from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Brownfield Housing Fund and a loan from the Greater Manchester Pension Fund.

The news was covered in local, regional and trade titles, including the Halifax Courier, Place Yorkshire, Property Reporter and more.
