We’re proud to work with placemaker Muse, who is creating meaningful change in the built environment and delivering affordable, vibrant neighbourhoods in response to local need.
Muse’s Development Director Isabelle Asante was featured in Inside Housing last week, exploring how the industry must focus not just on delivering more homes, but places that meet the needs of London’s communities, including family-sized, accessible and genuinely affordable housing. Responding to findings from the London Assembly Housing Committee on the shortage of suitable affordable homes across the capital, Isabelle highlights the risks of prioritising delivery targets over long-term community need.
As she puts it: “The question should not simply be whether we are building enough homes; it should be whether we are building the right homes.”
Drawing on Muse’s experience delivering the new Stroudley Walk neighbourhood in Bromley-by-Bow, the piece highlights what community-first placemaking can achieve. This includes 82 family homes at London Affordable Rent, accessible homes co-designed with residents, alongside public realm improvements to create a safer more welcoming neighbourhood.
